Walking in the Limousin

If you are a walker then you will love the Creuse department, home of the Marliannes Gites. There are many footpaths and tracks allowing you to discover this beautiful department, its woods, its fields and many historical sites.

Find the Dolmens and shrines scattered throughout Limousin and touch on Pilgrims Way, which runs through the local village of St Etienne De Fursac. Scallop shells on the church and brass studs in the pavement mark the way for the pilgrims to follow.

Fishing in the Limousin

The abundance of unpolluted rivers and lakes within easy travelling distance of Marliannes, are an anglers dream, populated by trout, roach, carp, pike and sturgeon.

Cycling in the Limousin

Bikes can be hired at the tourist information office in Fursac. With many pretty and quiet roads, La Creuse is ideal for exploring by bike.

Bird Watching

There is a bird-watching centre beside Lake Chaume where you will see many species of birds. It is possible to spot birds of prey and woodpeckers, together with migrating species at certain times of the year.

Swimming

Swimming beaches and children's playgrounds can be found at La Chaume, La Cazine, Le Cheix, La Brousse, and the Lac du Pont a L'Age (which also has pedalos). A heated outdoor swimming pool is available in Marsac.
